Types of Beauty Salons in Boston
There are five basic types of beauty salons you can find in Boston. Use our guide below to find the right salon for your needs. Traditional Hair Salon - this type of salon is walk-in with no appointment neccessary, you would just wait for the next available stylist. Usually you will find basic services such as a hair cut, perm, color, and blowdry. Full Service Hair Salon - here you would make an appointment in advance with a particular stylist of your choice. Within this types of salon, you will find a mixture of services and specialties depending on the particular salon. There are a wide variety of services beyond the basics that may be available at a full service hair salon, such as: tanning, spa services(massages, facials, pedicures, manicures), up-dos, hair removal(laser or wax), hair extentions, makeup, and much more. Nail Salons - this type of salon provides manicures and pedicures, and sometimes massaging, facials, and waxing are also offered. Tanning Salons - typically tanning salons will provide a different types of tanning booths. A horizontal booth is a bed like booth where the person lays down and lights are on the top and bottom of the booth. In a vertical booth, the person stands and lights are all around the walls of the booth. Both beds are equally effective in giving you a tan, it is just a preference of standing versus sitting. The newest type of tanning booth is the airbrushing booth. This is basically a spray on tan sprayed evenly all over your body and is UV safe. Day Spas- This type of salon usually offers massages, facials and body treatments like sea salt scrubs or mud wraps. They also usually offer professional spa products to purchase. Sometimes a larger spa will offer lockers, steam room and sauna. They also may offer nail, hair, and tanning services.
